Our Story
143 years, still in the family
Turveys began in 1883, when the family settled in Attercliffe, Sheffield. It has stayed in the same family through every chapter since — tobacco, furs, fashion, the Blitz, and finally furniture. Six generations on, Neil and his son Alec run the showroom, and the name above the door is still ours.
1883
The family settles in Attercliffe, Sheffield, and the family trade begins.
Early 1900s
The family turns to the fur trade, then fashion & millinery in the centre of Sheffield.
1940
The Sheffield Blitz destroys the shop; the next morning the family is trading again, from London Road.
2000
Turveys settles at 45 Sheffield Road — its largest showroom, and our home today.
